Welcome to the autumn / winter edition of PTAextra ! Whether you ’ re a veteran committee member returning for another school year or taking your first steps into the world of PTAs , inside these pages are plenty of ideas , tips and inspiration to help you strengthen your school community and raise vitally needed funds for your school .
Over the past few months , we ’ ve been working on new ways to help our members boost their fundraising efforts and make a difference to the lives of children across the UK . We ’ re so excited to present these partnerships , campaigns and initiatives in our Growing Your Impact section , starting on page 8 . This section starts with our fundraising partnership with Asda , which will open up millions of pounds to primary schools across the UK . We also have a winter coat campaign with FatFace , offering thousands of coats to children who need them . Finally , our collaboration with River Island includes a competition you really won ' t want to miss ! It ’ s been fantastic joining up with so many great organisations to further the impact of our charity and better support our members . So much of this incredible work could not have been done without our fundraising team , who you will get to meet on page 52 . Plus , they have even more exciting new projects announced in the Loop on page 6 .
While we have lots of new plans , we haven ’ t forgotten about Christmas ! Head to page 40 for some fun festive fundraising ideas that are alternatives to the traditional Christmas fair , which we know can be a time and cost-intensive event at an already busy time of year . And if you ' re looking for a laugh , on page 36 are your Christmas confessions – we asked you to share your funny stories of when Christmas events didn ’ t quite go to plan , which we certainly enjoyed reading !
Finally , we have some truly heartwarming stories in this edition . Our front cover stars spoke to us about how they foster a strong school spirit despite few of their parents living locally on page 29 , and we heard from committees who went above and beyond to bring their multicultural communities together on page 47 . We have once again been blown away by the commitment our members have shown to the children and families in their schools , and we can ’ t wait to see what the upcoming year has in store .
