Running your PTA

How to fundraise with fewer volunteers

Finding volunteers to help organise and run events can be a challenge . If your school community is on the smaller side , you ’ re struggling to connect with parents or people are too busy , here are some ways you can raise money for your school with fewer volunteers

1Change tack

There ’ s nothing wrong with changing your plans if you anticipate not having enough volunteers for a particular event , especially if that means you won ’ t have to cancel it completely . Would amending the day or time make a difference ? Combining events ? Holding multiple , smaller events rather than one big one ? Limiting the number of tickets you sell ? Perhaps some activities could be online rather than in-person ? It ’ s always worth having a few plan Bs ( or even plan Cs ) in your back pocket , just in case .

2Hit the socials

Most people check social media every day , so try and use it as much as possible . If you don ’ t have any social media accounts for your PTA , create some – at the very least set up a group on Facebook . You can then use it to spread awareness and for a host of money-making initiatives such as competitions , challenges , online raffles and auctions , as well as to connect with local businesses for sponsorships , prizes and discounts .
