Welcome to the autumn / winter edition of PTAextra! Whether you ' re a seasoned committee member returning for another school year or stepping into the world of PTAs for the first time, this issue is packed with ideas, tips and inspiration to help you strengthen your school community and raise those all-important funds.
In this edition, we’ re going back to basics and exploring the foundations of what makes a PTA run smoothly. On page 21, you’ ll find a helpful overview of PTA roles, and we answer some common questions about how your PTA fits in with school life on page 24. Along with our regular features such as Ask Clare, Modern Day PTA and quick guides, these articles will help set you up for a successful year ahead. Of course, we’ ve included plenty of fresh fundraising inspiration too. Don’ t miss our take on the classic chocolate bar fundraiser( page 47). You might recognise the format as it’ s inspired by a famous chocolate factory – but we ' ve given it a new name and a twist that keeps things fun( and legally sound)!
Is volunteering for secondary schools different to primary schools? We asked two PTAs on page 31
Looking ahead to the festive season, we’ ve reimagined the Christmas fair( page 53). If you ' re looking to shake things up this December, we ' ve got creative new ideas to bring the magic back and keep your community coming through the doors. We’ re also proud to share some truly inspiring stories from our members. On page 31, two secondary school PTAs tell us how they’ re engaging older students, which is often a challenge, but one they’ ve tackled brilliantly. On page 42, we shine the spotlight on a PTA that transformed their school environment through a fantastic Community Day.
Once again, we’ re blown away by the passion and dedication of our members. Your commitment to your schools, children and communities is what makes the PTA network so powerful. We’ re excited to see what the rest of the year will bring.
