Running your PTA
We attend the [ summer ] welcome evening hosted by the school where the headteacher and the EYFS( early years foundation stage) teachers give an introduction to the school. I do a presentation where I talk about the PTA.
On this evening, we also sell drinks and give each parent an information pack. The pack includes:
• The Parentkind Be School Ready guide
• A QR code to join the reception WhatsApp group
• Top tips for new parents
• Information about upcoming PTA events
• A parents uniform list( which says what you REALLY need!)
• Personalised labels produced by Stikins – we submit names in advance so they are ready to go!
On the first day of school, we also provide a little welcome pack including a small poem, a pack of tissues, biscuit and teabag.
When planning your welcome activities, think about the information you want parents to come away with, such as:

1 2

The names( and faces!) of your members.
What your PTA actually does – most new parents won’ t know the amazing work you do to enhance their child’ s school experience.

3 4

The events you typically hold – tell them all about the fun!
What you’ re currently fundraising for, or what you’ ve already funded.

5

How they can help – from small things like spreading the word about events and activities to volunteering their time.

6

How parents can keep in touch via your social media accounts. Welcome!
In this bag, you ' ll find a hug from Owlsmoor PTA. A cuppa, biscuit and reassurance to get through the first day. We understand it ' s a big day for your little one( and for you too!) So here is a reminder of the community and what we do.
We are volunteers running events With funds we raise, we supplement the school budget to build and grow, helping the children ' s learning flow. Because a school is more than books and desks And learning two by two, So if you can ever help at all We would warmly welcome you.
So, don ' t worry for your little one They ' re off to a great start. They may be away at school all day, But they ' re always in your heart.
