Hello and welcome to the autumn / winter 2026 edition of PTAextra. Over the summer, we received a very special letter of congratulations on behalf of Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales to mark Parentkind’ s 70th anniversary. The letter recognised the dedication of Parentkind members over the past seven decades and the positive impact your efforts have made on pupils, families and schools.
The letter serves as a powerful reminder that,
70 years on from our founding, the work of PTAs continues to make a real and lasting difference in the lives of children and families. Last year we estimate that Parentkind PTAs raised over £ 140 million for schools and organised more than 100,000 events, bringing communities together.
This year has been a particularly special one for Parentkind. In 1956, a small group of pioneering parents came together with a simple but powerful ambition: to ensure that parents had a voice in education. 70 years later, that mission remains at the heart of everything we do. Every fundraiser organised, every event hosted and every hour volunteered by PTA members helps strengthen school communities and improve life chances for children and young people across the UK.
Alongside this special anniversary celebration, this issue is packed with ideas and inspiration to help you make the most of the months ahead. From applying to grants to planning your winter festival, we ' ve got everything you need for a fun and successful term.
Thank you for everything you do to support your school community. Your passion, generosity and commitment are an inspiration to everyone at Parentkind.
