Angela Broadhurst, Chair of Friends of Diggle School, invited real dinosaurs into her school for an educational workshop pupils will never forget!

Tell us about your PTA

I started in the PTA nearly three years ago when my son started reception. This year is my first as Chair, after taking over from a longstanding member whose children had moved on. I currently have a seven-year-old in Year 2 and a nine-year-old in Year 5. We’ re a very active PTA – we have six committee members with official roles, but we have a wider group of 16 members who organise events and communicate to classes.

What does your regular fundraising calendar look like?

We have a good programme of events all year round. We regularly run‘ Break the Rules’ days and the usual Mother’ s and Father’ s Day sales. We tend to do a large event at the end of the year like a colour run, fair or circus. We also have a very popular Scarecrow Trail that runs in Easter and Halloween half terms every year – people come from far and wide to visit the scarecrows that community

We did a members display for us! This is usually our biggest fundraiser, raising around £ 6,000 a year. This year, we did a‘ Sponsor 2026’ event for the first time which was hugely successful and raised over £ 5,000.
