Running your PTA
Inflatable day
Willow & Wine evening

We had a Willow & Wine evening making willow bird feeders . We raised £ 580 with just 23 people . It was a great night and we had lots attending from outside the school and the village ‘ bubble ’, which was lovely . Our only costs were the TENs and hall hire . Wine and drink were donated , and Mine , who ran the workshop , refused payment , which was really lovely ! He lives in the village and was happy to support the school . Next on the list : wreathmaking !

Sponsored skip-a-thon

We ran a sponsored skip-a-thon which raised £ 1,591 . The children did as many skips with skipping ropes as they could in five minutes and the total was added up . They did 47,786 skips as a school ! We liked this approach as it was a team effort and involved every child , even if they could only manage a few skips , which was important . The school also had skipping workshops around this time , which led to a bit of a skipping craze at playtimes !

We held an inflatable day - £ 1,500 profit ! We called it Burger , Bounce & Boogie and it ’ s my favourite event so far . Our aim was to break even and make a lasting memory for the children , but it ended up being a huge win ! We had an outdoor disco with wristbands for unlimited inflatable use . We went for ten castles and an inflatable assault course , which was heavily discounted as the owner is a parent at the school . The DJ was £ 200 for 2 hours . The event was held after school on a Friday , 4-6pm . The school had a non-uniform day so everyone was ‘ jump ready ’. For health and safety and because it was all about the kids , we made the event alcohol-free . We also had a barbecue . We started grilling the food an hour before the event and stored it on hot plates . This was genius as previously we ’ ve had hour-long queues for food !
Ticket booking was done through PTA Events and we used Q-Flow for check-in . Advanced tickets were £ 6 and it was £ 8 on the door to encourage online sales , but still 40-50 people paid on the door . Total tickets sold was about 300 , and we ’ re a school of 450 . The barbecue took in about £ 1,000 . We had an external hot drinks stall that we charged just £ 25 for as we didn ’ t expect it to be too popular on such a hot day , but they did really well and also started selling cold cokes when we ran out , which was a relief . We had an external ice cream van who paid us 30 % ( which was £ 120 ) and he then gave free ice creams to all the volunteers and their children !
