Supporting your school
“ Communication between the school and the PTA is vastly improved , with teachers excitedly approaching the PTA for specific projects ”

Shoscombe School PTA relaunched in 2022 with an ambition to grow engagement among parents , increase fundraising , bring joy to school life for the children and build local community relationships .
" Our new PTA consisted of four parents . To encourage greater involvement , we created a group for those wanting to be kept in the loop – but not quite ready to commit to being on the PTA .
“ Membership grew quickly – now , over half of the school ’ s families are represented ”
We put regular , manageable requests to the group , encouraging volunteering and participation . This ranged from asking for donations of materials for outdoor play , through to support in writing bid applications .
By giving members specific , regular opportunities to contribute , we ’ ve built up fantastic rapport and now have a regular core of volunteers and a wider network who
26 are happy to contribute with specific skills when needed .
“ To date , the PTA has raised £ 8,000 in six months and has supported the school in applying for numerous grants ”
Although the school is part of a a small , tight-knit , community , , communication is not always positive ! We drew up a plan to contribute to the community , including sitting on the village hall committee , supporting local fundraisers and bringing school families to support village events . As a result , the community is significantly warmer t wards the school . We also engaged with local businesses . In our first eek as a PTA , we secured £ 1,400 in corporate sponsorship .
As a PTA , we ’ ve transformed the community of Shoscombe School and have created a fantastic new position from which future activities can thrive ."
