Can we have a barbecue at our summer fair?

Do all committee members need to be in attendance at our summer fair?

Of course, they’ re usually very popular! Make sure you take food storage and preparation into account when doing your risk assessment – if you can, ask a member of staff or parent who has a Food Hygiene certificate to help with this part of your risk assessment, or even run the barbecue for you. Talk to local butchers to see if they could offer you a discount or free food in exchange for a thank you in the event programme.

No, they don’ t – although at any large event, you need as many helpers as you can get! Remember that committee members are volunteers too and sometimes personal commitments get in the way. 16 PARENTKIND. ORG SUMMER 2025
