We registered with the charity commission as a PA using the Parentkind constitution. We also set up our bank account as a PA. We now want to change into a PTA – is it more involved than just changing our name on the Charity Commission website and our bank account?
Introducing Frank Young, Parentkind’ s new CEO
In January, Frank Young became Parentkind’ s new Chief Executive Officer. He joined the charity back in 2024 as Director of Policy and Research and later became Chief Policy Officer, leading the organisation ' s work to make sure parents’ voices are heard and are at the heart of education policy and public debate. He wants parents to be a much bigger part of our education debates when big decisions are made, and thinks every school should have an amazing PTA.
Before Parentkind, Frank had nearly a decade of experience in senior policy roles and served as a Non-Executive Director on the Board of Ofsted until August 2025.
When he’ s not at work, Frank loves playing Mario Kart and Mega Monopoly with his son. He dreams of one day retiring to a cottage in the Scottish Highlands or on a remote Scottish island, but in the meantime wants to help Parentkind stand up for parents and celebrate the incredible work of PTAs!
To change your association type, you’ ll need to amend your constitution, call an EGM giving 21 days ' notice and vote on the change. Guidance on the different association types can be found on our website: go. parentkind. org / constitution
Should the minutes taken from an AGM be circulated to everyone afterwards?
They need to be made available to all members to view if they wish, how you do this is up to you as a committee.
