Hello and welcome to the summer 2026 edition of PTAextra. I’ m delighted to be writing to you for the first time as Parentkind’ s Chief Executive Officer. Leading the UK’ s largest parent charity is a privilege – in 2025 alone our 13,000 members collectively held 100,000 events to raise a huge £ 142 million for schools, a superb achievement that that we should all celebrate.

I ' m particularly pleased to be introducing myself in this edition as we’ re celebrating our 2025 National PTA Award winners. You can read their inspiring stories and fundraising successes on page 23. Plus, find out how to nominate your association for the 2026 awards on page 30 and be in with the chance of winning up to £ 2,000!
This summer’ s PTAextra is also a wonderful celebration of reading. As 2026 is the National Year of Reading with Go All In, a nationwide campaign designed to help more people discover the joy of reading, this issue is packed with practical ways to get more books into the hands of the children in your school from page 35.
We explore innovative libraries on page 43, with creative ideas to squeeze book spaces into schools that don’ t have room for a traditional library. If you’ re planning ahead for the holidays, turn to page 52 for tips on running a successful summer readathon and page 49 has book-themed fundraising ideas that are as fun as they are impactful.
